Friends of Josephine County Food Bank Operations
Concerned Josephine County citizens formed the non-profit FRIENDS network to develop and implement long-term strategies in support of the Josephine County Food Bank. The 12 member team overseas funding for the Josephine County Food Bank.
Kevin Widdison Director
Kevin was named the director of the Josephine County Food Bank in April 2017. He comes to the Food Bank from a 38-year career as a journalist, the past 21 years at the Grants Pass Daily Courier. Long active in the community, Kevin was an integral part of the effort to establish Josephine Community Libraries and spent many years coaching in youth sports programs, among other volunteer efforts. He and his wife, Eileen, have two adult children, Frances and Ben.
Toni Drew Administrative Coordinator
Toni has been the admin glue that keeps operations running smoothly in our office since 2009. Handling everything from allocations to deposits, reporting to volunteers, the Food Bank would be lost without her and she has earned her title of the “Queen of Paperwork.” When she’s not being attacked by paper, Toni is a cross-stitching fiend and bookkeeper.
Jill Gleysteen Marketing
Jill has been a longtime supporter of the Food Bank and also joined the team as a part-time contract worker in 2013. Jill oversees many marketing pieces related to Raptor Creek Farm and the Food Bank, along with press and media outreach. She also helps the community fundraising committee and organizes fundraising benefiting the Josephine County Food Bank. When she’s not organizing or marketing, Jill can be found gardening or being involved in many other worthy community causes.
Richard Matteson Warehouse Operations Coordinator
Richard works in the county with donors and agencies to ensure that clients have filling and balanced food with which to build meals. He also helps to coordinate the many details with the Oregon Food Bank to make sure that any available food resource that can benefit our county make it on to local tables and plates. Richard has a background in cooking, farming, and information technologies. His caring nature brings client dignity and respect to all parts of food distribution.
Kristin Smith Farm Manager
Kristin has been farming the last two years and loves to grow vegetables more and more every year. She’s excited to grow produce for the community believing we all deserve access to organic food. After living in Portland for 5 years, Kristin relocated to the Rogue Valley to begin farming with Rogue Farm Corps and was eager to continue her education. When she’s not farming, Kristin loves to explore Oregon with her sweet pup “Lou.” Kristin invites you to see the farm and say hi!
Bruce Eskew Assistant Warehouse Manager
Bruce is the assistant warehouse manager. He joins the staff after several months as part of the Experience Works job training program. Bruce worked in inventory control for Cal Spas for 25 years and also worked in the newspaper industry for five years. On his time off, he enjoys sailing, surfing and scuba diving.
Gabrielle Rysula Volunteer Coordinator
Gabrielle moved to Southern Oregon in 2008 from Chicago to live a more agrarian life. With more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, she is an expert in service! This position is her first foray into the nonprofit world, and she couldn't be happier with the opportunity to help feed Josephine County.
Joe Cox Warehouseman
Joe Cox has worked as a volunteer at the Josephine County Food Bank for the past eight years. In the autumn of 2017, he was added to the warehouse staff on a part-time basis. In addition to working in the warehouse, Joe is in charge of the Wednesday food pantry in Wolf Creek, which has been operated by the Food Bank since November of 2017. In his free time, Joe is a sports fan who also enjoys camping and playing golf.
